Vernacular Secrets by Dana Landa is a very curios project. Girls modeling different types and styles of underwear at first glance remind well known and advertised Victoria’s Secrets Magazine. Yet VSecrets depicts models without applying any perfection: imperfect skin colours, scars, skin imperfections, cellulite. Models of different shapes and sizes proudly show butterflies. Not perfect but real. Landau creates her own language to talk about idea of modern day self-perception. Vernacular Secret is artist’s statement on today’s construction and over idealization of women’s beauty.
